Title: Risk 2.0 Interest
Post by: DaleNagy on Dec 04, 2025, 13:53
Hey everybody!

Have you ever found yourself in the middle of playing a game of Risk and thinking "Wow, this game sucks!" Well, you're in luck because Risk 2.0 sucks not! (probably, I haven't that confirmed yet).  With this version, players have more tactical control of their units where the type of unit actually matters!  For example, Infantry, Cavalry and Artillery units all have different abilities from one another.  Additionally, player will be able to build forts, redoubts, and take advantage of special Action cards.  Inspired by the computer game Total War: Napoleon, Risk 2.0 has battles, sieges, and conquest.

Note that this game has not been tested yet, so there is a chance that it also sucks.

Please let me know if there is any interest in trying it out!

Thanks!

Hi Dale. I can't find any games under the name Risk 2.0.  Is this a fan made game?  I love Risk, and would be down to try this.  I've played Risk, Risk Legacy, Risk 2210, and Risk Godstorm.

I have played Risk, and I too have remarked how not awesome it is. Would 100% be down to testing out a new variant.

I assume this is a Dale-made fan variant.  I am interested in trying it out.

I'd be interested as well.  No promise game won't end as a few of my Risk games have ended with board and pieces all over the floor after someone rage quits (never by me but totally true story from my teen years)!

Wow, this is very in depth and detailed. You put a ton of work into this.  With that said, I'm out, it's more complex then I had in mind.  Good luck.

No problem! Thanks for your honesty. I will add that I'm new to writing board game rules. That is, I'm sure there are more concise ways to present the rules that how I did it with this early draft.  So the game may seem more complicated than it actually is.  It also doesn't help that I don't any have images or diagrams added to the rules . . . yet!
